OVERTURE

Design Intent

The theatre school aims to provide a common space for everyone that allows the individuals to be immersed in the space and eliminate distractions from the external busy environment. An analysis from a survey shows that most people wants a calm and tranquil environment under emotional well-being, connection to greenery under visual comfort and noise level under auditory. Hence, Student can interact closely with one another and learn together in this melting pot.

Strategies

Blocks are interlocked together to create internal looking spaces. This also create pop up spaces which are the communal/ collaborative spaces with different volumes catered to different activities.

Spaces are grouped into small clusters whereby users will penetrate through a community to get into another community with the connecting flights. Reason being, in conventional classrooms, corridors are just passageway that separate spaces and link user to their destination. Making the corridor part of the studio and using them as a connecting flight will mitigate boundaries between spaces. Hence, users can interact closely with one another, for example, study of body movement and body consciousness.
