PROJECT SIX
DENSITY, URBANISM, PUBLICNESS

PLEXUS WONDERLAND
Design Intent
Plexus Wonderland is a place of recreation that is located within Tanjong Pagar Plaza, that intends to bridge with the existing Yan Kit Play field. It aims to open up the space to encourage pedestrian movement to occur and strengthen the intergenerational dialogue between the persisting demography of the site, the elderly and the youth community.

Design Development
Strategies
The project It consists of three key ideas grid structure representing permanence, circulation representing partial permanence and programmatic volumes representing impermanence. ‘Permanence’ is the study of dividing, dispersing and combining the grids. ‘Partial Permanence’ is the planning of the design of horizontal and vertical circulation taking on the concept of the labyrinth. ‘Impermanence’ is the exploration of the diffierent possibilities of the types of form that can be accomodated by the grid structure.

Analysing Tanjong Pagar Plaza, has a very dense, mysterious and dark spatial quality. The three courtyards also create a lack of legibility for pedestrians as there are no directed paths towards destinations, people are walking in every direction. Pedestrians do not know where the circulation route is bringing them to. Therefore, this project aims to intervene in the Tanjong Pagar plaza courtyards and part of the carpark to establish a connection between Tanjong Pagar Plaza and Yan Kit Playfield.
