CELESTIAL COVE
Design Intent
This project explores how we can transform a space via adaptive and kinetic facades to make them more comfortable and livable. The facade of Celestial Cove consists of rotating cubes that are able to open and close depending on the outdoor atmospheric conditions.

Design Development
Strategies
The facade is made up of 7X7 and 5X5 cube modules. The 7X7 modules are arranged such that they overlap one creating a dynamic form of layering. The 5X5 modules on the other hand are facing inwards for the users to control manually, creating an interactive facade. A light sensor is introduced to sense the lux levels of the outdoors and move the modules accordingly using a Light Dependant Resistor and Arduino. The individual cubes also have a wind funnelling effect which allows us to successfully achieve indoor comfort.

There is a parametric interior design with wave-like projections that transforms the interior into a cave-like space which is comforting and soothing for the users. Moreover, the curves are derived from human anatomy and are used as part of the furniture for the users to utilize. The stark contrast between the linear language of the exterior and the organic form of the interior would be able to create different and unique experiences within each space.
